On the way from the Underhive to the Maglev Nexus, which leads to the spaceport, the agents notice an ambush. Members of the Cutters Infractionists attack a law-abiding citizen who has accidentally wandered into the Underhive while engaging in leisure activities (although he shouldn't have any, as he works for the Administratum). After various threats and Vinz's use of psi-powers that cause spasms in the arms of the Cutter threatening the hostage and a well-aimed shot from Serverin in the thug's arm, the hostage is freed and the Infractionists are driven away with some good advice on how to behave. Finally, the agents arrive at the Mud Gate and can fly back to their voidship in their Aquila lander. After a short period of rest and freshening up, they meet for a debriefing with the Lord Captain and Alyssa Wyld.
